Creature concept

This is another creature concept from my book which is in the process of being written still
Hope you like it...

It's loosely based on a Hoopoe and a rodent of some kind... I wanted to create a bird-like mammal, so here we are I've got a lovely little painting of a couple of these guys perching around and looking pretty, will post it if I finish it (or it may just appear in my book, in the near future!) They move in a similar way to a squirrel and a sparrow, with jerky, swift movements. They can fly, but can usually be seen hopping about between the rocks and branches of forests and fields. They are quite a common species.
